Please read these Terms carefully before using AI Academy (AIA). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you are creating an account for a child under 13, you (the parent or guardian) are agreeing on their behalf.

1. About AIA

AI Academy ("AIA", "we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered educational platform providing personalized lessons, quizzes, and learning tools for students aged 7–15. AIA is operated as a homeschool curriculum resource. AIA is not an accredited school and does not grant diplomas or credits. Parents using AIA for homeschooling are responsible for meeting their jurisdiction's registration, reporting, and assessment requirements.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

Children under 13: AIA is designed for use by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. If your child is under 13, you must create and manage their account. By creating an account for a child under 13, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and you consent to the collection and use of their educational data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Students 13 and older may create their own accounts but are encouraged to do so with parental awareness.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

AIA uses artificial intelligence (local large language models) to generate personalized lessons and quizzes. While we strive for accuracy and quality, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors. AIA content is intended as an educational supplement and should not be the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, or other professional decisions.

5. Intellectual Property

AIA's platform, design, software, and original content are owned by AIU and protected by copyright. Student-generated work (essays, projects) remains the property of the student and their family.

You may print or save lessons for personal educational use. You may not redistribute, sell, or publish AIA content without written permission.

6. Privacy and Children's Data

We take children's privacy seriously. Our data practices comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the educational service: student name (or username), learning progress, quiz scores, XP points, and badges. We do not sell, share, or monetize student data. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

AIA is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI-generated content will be perfectly accurate. We are not responsible for any educational outcomes.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AIA's liability for any claim arising from use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim. AIA is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days unless retention is required by law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email (if provided) or by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
